100 Days for Mandalas – Encore – Part One
September 21st, 2012
100 Days for Mandalas lives on.
On the last day of 100 Days for Mandalas (Sept. 8th), an email came from Gail Haverdill in Ohio telling me she sent a mandala book inspired by 100 Days for Mandalas. It was coming via snail mail.
When the lovely package arrived, I was amazed at the beauty and creativity. I first meet Gail when she came all the way from Ohio to St. Louis to take the first Entering the Sacred through Images and Words workshop three years ago. It was so great to get to know her. Last year she visited St. Louis and I got to spend part of an afternoon with her. She shared some of the mandalas she had created then. When this book arrived in the mail, I knew I held a special treasure in my hands. Here she shares why she came to the workshop.
After this Mini Mandala book came in the mail, I told Gail I would photograph it and then send it back. She told me it was a gift. I feel so honored to have this special remembrance of 100 Days for Mandalas. I am sharing this gift in photos of Gail’s book for this and my next Mandala blog. Enjoy.
This one is made with real butterfly wings and pressed flowers. I love to gently run my hand over it.
Made form tea bag wrappers.
More pressed flowers and ferns.
Funny how Gail called this one “disappointment”. She doesn’t like it. It is one of my favorites. I love the colors and shapes. So maybe we create for others sometimes, and not for ourselves. Perhaps the world needs our creativity no matter how we judge it.
(More to come next week)
