The Gifts of Our Souls
100 Days for Mandalas – Session Five – Week 1
This 100 day session is a time to be inspired to delve into the deep creativity that reveals the mystery of who we are and guides us on our life journey. It is a time to create mandala images and words. It is an online retreat that fits into your 100 Days. Here is the invitation from the first session that explains it all.
THEME FOR SESSION FIVE – We all have gifts of our authentic being and true self. We are here on earth to share these gifts; with ourselves, others, the world and beyond. We often don’t recognize our own gifts. The poem shared here in blue reminds us of the magic of these gifts.
MAGIC
Magic is not as complicated as it looks.
We are all given a talent, an astonishing
thing that we do better than anyone else.
This 100 Days for Mandalas is a time to open to your creativity. Let it bring the light to honor, deepen and nurture the gifts of your soul.
When we look each at our own gift,
it seems ordinary because it comes to us
too easily. But when we look at someone
else’s, such a thing seems inconceivable
and so we call it magic.
There is magic in painting and in growing rice.
There is magic in singing and in raising a child and
being a friend. There is magic in telling a tale.
There are 15 (14.29 to be exact) weeks in 100 days. The overall theme of this session is “The Gifts of Our Souls”. There are five inspirational themes relating to our soul gifts. Each of the five themes will last three weeks.
The five themes for this 100 Days for Mandalas are:
– MAGIC
– JOURNEY
– AUTHENTIC
– VULNERABLE & COURAGEOUS
– I AM ENOUGH
Magic is a gift and cannot be acquired no matter
how much effort or money or time spent on it.
Yet there is nothing wonderful about simply
owning a gift. It is wonderful only in its use.
Our task, our joy, is to recognize our seed
of magic and to nurture it, practice it,
work it, and grow it to full bloom.
(William J. Brooke – from A Brush With Magic)
This first week of 100 Days for Mandalas begins with the poem “Magic”.
POEMS & QUOTES – Please read this poem in blue type and let it be an inspiration. Each week poems and quotes are shared to inspire.
MEDITATION – The guided meditation centers and quiets. Enter into the sacred space of the mandala circle to let the colors, shapes and whatever you put into the mandala guide you. The marks you make are perfect, whatever they are.
Here is the meditation for Magic –MANDALA MEDITATION- MAGIC
MANDALA PROMPT – What are you passionate about? What do you love to do? Remember when you were young, what did you love then? What dreams are deep in your heart? What gifts of your soul do you remember? Let all these questions speak to you. Let thoughts and feelings guide you in you mandala creation.
WRITING PROMPT – An easy poem to create in an acrostic poem. Take a word, any word from the poem, and write the letters one on top of each other, down a page. Magic is an example, written like this:
M
A
G
I
C
Then write a line or sentence with the first letter of each line being the first letter of the word. My acrostic poem for magic is:
M ay I always be truth
A lign my soul with light
G ive me peace to share
I n holiness let me be
C ircle of love surround me
This poem was written on the vellum paper, along a spiral traced on top of the larger colorful mandala. Words can be added to mandalas in any and many ways. This mandala was created by me at the monthly Mandala Circle. A guided meditation on the above poem was our inspiration. More mandalas from this circle of mandala makers are below.
