Full Moon New Year – Envision & Enliven
January 1st, 2018
Today is January 1, 2018. The first full moon, on the first day. The energy of full moon light amplifies what will go forward into the New Year. It is a time of creating and planting seeds that will manifest. A time of envisioning and enlivening the world we create. A cartoon someone posted online says it best.
Planting flowers, of course, but also planting flowers of a deep kind. Planting flowers of deep truth. The words of American poet Muriel Rukeyser (1913-1980) inspire me on this New Year’s day. I share an origami book I created dedicated to truth.
“What if one woman spoke the truth of her life? The world would split open”. Muriel Rukeyser wrote this in 1968. The world is splitting open with our deep truths.
We are being called to know, speak and bring to action what is most true in our bodies, minds and souls. These truths that resist and are stronger than the cry of those who proclaim women’s, men’s, children’s and the earth’s truths as “fake”. I honor the courage of truth speakers and truth doers. May I be one of them.
Acrostic poem I wrote – Truth In Trees
Muriel Rukeyser also wrote: “In this moment when we face horizons and conflicts wider than ever before, we want our resources, the ways of strength. We look again to the human wish, its faiths, the means by which the imagination leads us to surpass ourselves. If there is a feeling that something has been lost, it may be because much has not yet been used, much is still to be found and begun.”
What truths can I tell?
And how do we summon up our resources and let our “imagination lead us to surpass ourselves” with truths and strengths? Again Muriel writes; “The universe is made of stories, not of atoms.”
What are the stories that carry our truths? We can find them in what we hold deepest and dearest in our humanness. Our bodies, minds, hearts and souls know our truths. We speak them in different ways. We join others to share our stories. We work for truth.
2018 Journal that holds the seeds that I envision and hope to enliven
(Given to me by dear friends and created by an artist friend)
For me, prayers, journaling and creative marks helped me center and begin this New Year.
The stillness and dark of winter is a womb of seed making . What I envision and enliven, these are the stories I hope will come into being as the universe unfolds.
Happy New Year. May it be filled with truths, strength, imagination and creating. Share the truths of your life. Share these stories.
