Art of Folk – Artists Who Rock
February 19th, 2014
There is an art exhibit at my local library that showcases some of the most amazing art. Created by artists who make their art and are: “artists of all ages whose lives are challenged by developmental disabilities, pervasive mental illness, and/or traumatic brain injury.”
Like all art, the making of this art is not really about the finished product, it is about the process. For these artists, the process allows them to find so many positive personal qualities like self esteem, joy, creative spirit and more.
The name of the artist and name of the piece is below each image.
Luke Allison – Winter Olympics
Luke Allison – In My Neighborhood
Tevis Gregory – Over the River and Through the Woods
David Fishman – Lush Park After Dark
Melelani Perry – Mini Mandala Plate
Shelley Randinski – Sunshine Daydream
Pauline McDonald – The Pumpkin Patch
Pauline McDonald – Gum Ball Building
Dave Walters – It Looks Like Candy
Joy Proctor – Technicolor Kitty
Joseph Miller – My Sister Olivia
These artists bring their unique creativity and talents to the world, and it is such a joy to see what they create and to support them. Some of the art work has been sold. I bought one piece, and have bought others through the years. They are all great treasures.
