The month – 31+ days – before leaving for North Carolina to teach my 5 day course outside of Asheville has come to an end.
The month (31+ days) has been a creative counting of days. It has been a journey of posting a drawing, design or doodle on Instagram each day. The last week was a little challenging with getting ready, leaving and arriving in North Carolina. I had help from friends and family who shared their creativity and let me post the images here and on Instagram.

I am now at Kanuga, the 1400 acre Episcopal retreat center in the Blue Ridge mountains. Near Carl Sandburg’s home in Flat Rock, NC.
View from Carl Sandburg’s home Connemara.
The class I am teaching, along with Kelly Larson, is titled “Create in Me – Learning to See Creator in Creation”.
It is part of a 5 day retreat called “Faith, Art & Creative Expression”.

My class is an Art Journaling class plus. The plus part is the spiritual depth of creating images and words that open a deep connection to true self.
My son’s design inspired by an island of hexagon shaped pillar rocks in the U.K.
In the class the participants are learning to truly see by drawing, sketching and watercolor painting. We are doing meditative “seeing”, unlike “looking” which we do most of the time. We are also writing poems and prayers. I will share more of what we create in the next blogs.
Painting by my daughter-in-law, inspired by the New Mexico landscape
This blog is the last of A Drawing, Design or Doodle a Day month+ long adventure.

Mandala of Hearts & Spirals by Linda Massie
I’m sharing my own creations along with some from others created at the Mandala Circle at my home recently. One of my mandala students created a mandala while her husband was in surgery, she shared it here. And my son and daughter-in-law shared their creativity inspired by recent summer trips.
I posted once a day for 31 days (again the calendar was a creative counting of the days). It was a challenge, but worth the rewards of playing with different art materials and forms of creativity expression.
My last posting of a drawing, design or doodle, on day 31
May these inspire your own drawings, designs and doodles that express your creativity, depth and joy. Here is a guided meditation to help.
ENJOY & CREATE
These drawings, designs and doodles were in preparation for the 5 day workshop I am teaching for the FACE (Faith, Art & Creative Expression) conference at KANUGA near Asheville, NC. The dates are August 19-24th.
