100 Days for Mandalas – Week Twelve

MONDAY MANDALA  INFORMATION, INSPIRATIONS & MEDITATION

We are in the last weeks of 100 Days for Mandalas.  There will be two more blog posts after this one about our creative journey over the summer. The 100th day is September 8th, which is 100 days after the starting date of June 1st. Enjoy these last weeks of creativity.

MANDALA PROMPT – INSPIRING WORDS AND NEW WAYS TO CREATE

I love the names of paint colors that you find on the sample cards at the paint store.  Yes there is the wonderful Pantone system of numbers that match colors for printing and other design fields, but will a number ever evoke the same inspiration as “still moment”, “healing waters”, or “butterfly wing”?

I had collected a stack of paint sample papers that are perfect for their evocative names , 4 inch square shape and nothing else printed on the front.  I drew a circle on each square about 3.25 inches in diameter.  My monthly mandala get together took place in my studio last night.  We used these papers to create mandalas, with the beautiful words as inspirations.

MANDALA PROMPT – INSPIRING WORDS
Often words will guide us to a place of creativity as we think about the meaning and feeling of those words.  Here is a list of words from the paint sample papers I had collected.  Choose some of these words , or others, that inspire you and create your mandalas.  Use a new type of paper and art supplies to expand your mandala making.  Remember mandalas come in all sizes, so try a new size.

WORDS TO INSPIRE:
(These words are the names of the colors from the Freshaire Paint Company whose paint sample papers were used to create mandalas. You can find more paint names on their website.)
