100 Days for Mandalas – Session Three – Remember

This is the second week of 100 Days for Mandalas – Session Three.  This session uses words as inspirations for creating mandalas and art journaling that goes along with each mandala with words.   For two weeks the word “REMEMBER” is the inspiration – from August 19th through September 2.

This week I am sharing what I have created with the word “REMEMBER”.   I created  a simple mandala, and two on yupo paper.  I also created art journaling words that go along with the mandalas for this week’s sharing.

First I used the guided meditation from last week’s blog to let my thoughts and feelings about memories come to mind and heart.  Different memories of childhood and young adult experiences came to mind.  But what also came to mind were “rememberings” of a deeper memories and callings.  Memories of who I truly am and what drives me.

The spiral is a symbol I use a lot.  It represents journey.  The first mandala and words I created referred to the journey of being female and the energy of divine feminine.

The memories also evoked the color red and  and the red tent.  The words are stream of consciousness about these memories, thoughts and feelings.

The mandala above honors womanhood, mine and others.  It was created on yupo paper.

My next mandala and art journaling refers to the sun.  I used a fantasy flower mandala painting print.  It is one of a series that I created as my first mandalas.  I put it on the intro page to my sun mandala.  On the back is a pocket for a hidden story written on orange vellum.  The story is a memory of skipping school to go sun bathing when I was a senior in high school.

As a Leo, and person who has to spend time in nature or else my soul withers, I am a sun lover.  It calls to me with its power and energy.  I bath in that energy, now in a much different way than when I skipped school to turn my skin dark.

This mandala was also created on yupo paper.  It’s smooth surface is like a still pond where the paint glides on top.  The effects are very liquid and watery.

Next week I will share two more mandalas and art journaling pages for the “remember” weeks.  I am going to bind them all in a book or booklet form.  I’ll share the additional pieces and their easy way of binding next week.
