100 Days for Mandalas – Session Three – AWAKE – Sharing
October 3rd, 2013
The inspiration for this two week session is AWAKE. The words that came to mind for me with awake are – being present, alert, fully aware, alive, conscious, in the moment, enlightened, present.
MANDALA INSPIRATION – Let your awareness be in the moment. Let you awareness be in the present. Let the energy of life awaken your soul’s deepest wisdom and creativity. Be awake.
MANDALA MEDITATION – Mandala Meditation Awake
This is one of my “awake” mandalas. I created it during the monthly mandala get together. The image of the Egyptian eye of Ra came to mind when I thought of the word awake. Perhaps because when we wake up, our eyes open. But of course this is no ordinary eye, it is a symbol of protection, healing and safe journey.
More mandalas inspired by AWAKE in next week’s blog.
LISTEN MANDALAS
My listen mandalas were shared in last week’s blog and the week before. I bound them together by creating a cover page made from two sheets of wax paper that have strips of paper in between. The blue strip has the word “listen” stamped on. Two smaller strips of paper give reinforcement to the waxed paper. This is where I punched the holes. The yellow paper gives some weight to the other side of the paper. I attached a photo of my favorite zinnia with thread in two corners, and tied embroidery thread to bind all the pages together.
MANDALA SHARING
A few days ago I got to create mandalas in the presence of three other lovely mandala makers – Tina, Pat and Ann. It is always a treat to create together in silence with music in the background and then to share when we are finished.
Here are some of the amazing mandalas inspired by the words LISTEN, AWAKE and PAUSE
The first three were created by Pat Huemmer. I love the words and images combined in the flow of watercolor.
The words in the center are from a stamp. They say – “Learn to pause or nothing worthwhile will enter into you”
Awaken to the beauty of all the seasons, for each brings a special gift that awakens your soul.
The next three creations are by Tina Sparks. The last one isn’t exactly a mandala, even though it was on its way to becoming one. It was a fun exploration of stencils and spray inks that Tina created with her granddaughter.
